SkyTeam Widens Global Network With Aerolíneas Argentinas Membership
Coming close on the heels of the Saudi Arabian Airlines joining Sky Team, Aerolíneas Argentinas, the national airline of Argentina, has become the first South American member of the global airline alliance.
Sky Team, which now has 18 members, gives frequent business travelers more flexibility and more choices for international travel due to its extensive global network.
Founded in 1950, Aerolíneas operates flights to 52 destinations in 14 countries from its two hubs in Buenos Aires, including a comprehensive domestic network of 35 destinations within Argentina. These include popular tourist attractions such as the Patagonian capital of Ushuaia, the spectacular Iguazu falls, as well as the industrial centers of Córdoba and Rosario From its home bases in Aeroparque Jorge Newbery and Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires, Aerolíneas Argentinas flies to18 international destinations in The Americas, Europe and the South Pacific. Flying to more cities in the Argentine territory than any other airline, Aerolíneas provides dynamic links between Argentina and the region through its re-launched hub in Aeroparque Jorge Newbery city airport. The Aerolíneas group is also carrying out a fleet renewal program. The airline’s fleet is composed of 57 aircraft, including 11 Airbus 340s, 26 Boeing 737-700/800s and 20 Embraer 190s. SkyTeam carriers now offer 123 daily departures from Buenos Aires to 53 destinations around the globe.
